The Problem

Modular building manufacturers that want to bring shrink wrap encapsulation in-house face a familiar question: how do you build genuine, certifiable competence across a team quickly, without relying on an external contractor for every unit that leaves the production line?

For a modular building manufacturer in Northern Ireland, the answer needed to combine structured theory with hands-on practical training, delivered on their own production line, with their own team, using their own equipment from day one.

The Solution

Rhino delivered its two-part course, How to Shrink Wrap Modular Buildings Like a Pro, a structured programme combining online theory with an in-person practical session.

Part one is theory: 15 online video lessons covering the principles and techniques of shrink wrap encapsulation for modular buildings, supported by written notes, illustrations, and multiple-choice assessments. Candidates complete this stage at their own pace before the practical session.

Part two is practical: a Rhino trainer travels to the manufacturer's site, in this case crossing from England to Northern Ireland by ferry, for an in-person session of explanation, demonstration, and hands-on practice on the production line itself. Each candidate's skills are assessed against the standard, and a certificate is issued once both parts of the course are successfully completed.

Two candidates completed the course at their facility. Alongside the training, the manufacturer ordered two complete Rhino shrink wrapping gun kits: 32kW / 110,000 BTU heat guns with regulator, hose, gloves, and carry case. This gave the team the right equipment to put the training into practice immediately.

The Result

The manufacturer's team is now certified to wrap their own modular units in-house, with the equipment and technique to do so to a consistent standard.

Beyond the course itself, an ongoing materials supply relationship continues, with Rhino shrink wrap film and consumables supplied as the manufacturer's production schedule requires.
