The Problem

Shrink wrap encapsulation looks straightforward from the ground: a white membrane, heat-shrunk tight. In practice, getting a scaffold side sheet to perform properly involves a sequence of decisions: how each sheet is hung and tensioned, how joints are overlapped and welded so they shed water rather than collect it, and how the heat-shrinking process is managed across a large panel without overheating one area and leaving another loose.

None of that is easy to learn from a manual. Rhino's approach to training has always been to get people working on a real structure, with real materials, under real conditions. For a team in Denmark looking to build genuine competence in scaffold encapsulation, that meant training on a live project rather than a classroom mock-up.

The Solution

Rhino sent a trainer to Denmark to deliver an on-site training session on a live residential project near Aarhus: a scaffolded building requiring shrink wrap encapsulation to the side elevations.

The session covered the full sequence for side sheeting: hanging sheets to create a taut, sealed elevation, running the correct overlap at every join so seams shed water cleanly, heat-welding each join to create a continuously bonded membrane, and finally heat-shrinking each panel drum-tight against the scaffold frame.

The coaching was hands-on and direct, working alongside the local team at each stage, correcting technique on heat gun distance, sheet tension, and weld quality as the work progressed. By training on a live job rather than a practice structure, the team learned not just the technique itself but how to sequence and manage a real installation from start to finish, including the judgement calls that come up on site and do not appear in a manual.

The Result

By the end of the session, the team had completed shrink wrap encapsulation to the side elevations of a live project, while building direct, supervised experience in every stage of the process.
